Liver Biopsy is a
procedure in which a small piece of tissue from the patient' s liver
is removed and examined for sign of damage or disease such as
cirrhosis, hepatitis, tumor or
cancer. | |
During the procedure:

Patient must exhale completely and hold their
breath about 5-30 seconds while the physician makes a small
incision, then insert the biopsy needle and retrieve a sample of
liver tissue. |
|
|
Physician Patient must remain perfectly still for
a few moments up to about 30 seconds while the physician acquires
the CT data set. | |
After the procedure:
|
Patient should lie on
the right side, pressed against a pillow filled with sand for 12-24
hours while under observation at the hospital. The patient will be
closely monitored to prevent possible complications that can
occur. | |
