     The Pediatric Ophthalmology Clinic at Samitivej Srinakarin Children's Hospital offers diagnosis, consultation, and treatment services for eye diseases in children and adolescent by experienced pediatric ophthalmologists. Our services includes an eye exam in premature newborns who have to stay in incubators in order to screen for retina disorder called ROP (retinopathy of prematurity), retina diseases, and eye diseases.
 
      Our clinic also provide diagnosis and treatment for blocked tear ducts (nasolacrimal duct obstruction), squint (strabismus), lazy eye, inflammation of the membrane lining under the eyelids (allergic conjunctivitis), pediatric glaucoma and cataract, cataract surgery in children using artificial lens, and accidental eye injuries. In addition, we also provide visual acuity tests for eye glasses fitting.
Infants and children that are at risk of having eye diseases and disorders, and require special eye care includes those who:
1. Were born prematurely
2. Had a mother that had German measles during the first trimester of pregnancy
3. Had a mother that had a history of asthma and that required supplemental oxygen during pregnancy
4. Do not look at their mother's face or do not visually follow moving objects after reaching appropriate age
5. Has thick discharge from the eye continuously since birth
6. Has sparkle in their eyes, similar to a cat's eye when light is shine directly at it
7. Has family history of eye diseases, such as cancer of the retina, crossed eyes, and extreme nearsightedness.
8. Is suspected to have crossed eyes
9. Squint their eyes frequently when looking at something
10. Blink or rub their eyes frequently
11. Have red birthmark on their face and near the eyes
12. Has diabetes
13. Has abnormally large eyes and too much tears (Infantile glaucoma)
14. Is malnutrition
The clinic offers the following services:
- General eye exam
- Retina exam for premature newborns
- Visual acuity tests for eye glasses fitting
- Diagnosis and treatment of crossed eyes and lazy eyes
