Genetic disorders or
inherited diseases are well known and common in society, such as
dwarfism, neurofibromatosis, Down's syndrome, hemophilia, and
thalassemia. However, most people do not realize that most
congenital disorders, such as certain type of mental retardation,
certain type of epilepsy, failure to thrive , or a condition in
which the child lack physical resemblance to their parents, are
caused by genetics disorder, and it is not necessary to have prior
family history of it.
Many of the diseases and
disorders can be cured if correct diagnosis was made on the cause,
and some can even be prevented from occurring by obtaining a
diagnosis prior to giving birth. Family members must consult their
physician and obtain a correct understanding of these diseases or
disorders. | |
The clinic offers the following services:

Diagnose, treat and provide advice on all genetic
disorder, such as Down's syndrome, chromosome abnormality, muscular
dystrophy, Tay-Sachs disease, thalassemia, congenital malformations,
slow development or retardation, and epilepsy. |

Laboratory tests for chromosome and gene
abnormality relating to degeneration of muscle and nervous system.

Stimulate development for children who are slow learners or retarded. |

Speech exercises |

Physical rehabilitation for Duchenne muscular dystrophy, cerebral palsy |

Provide consultation and advice for diagnosis during pregnancy. | |

Diagnostic examinations are conducted based on
necessity and the type of disease or symptoms.

Stool examination - to check for infection in
digestive system or abnormal breakdown of fat. |
| 2. |
Ultrasound - to check for abnormality in the
abdomen, such as intussusception, infection of the pancreas, bile
duct infection or obstruction, mass in the stomach. |

Swallowing Barium solution and X-Ray - to see
abnormality in the esophagus, stomach and small
intestine. |
| 4. |
Swallowing Barium solution and X-Ray - to see abnormality in the large intestine |
| 5. |
Test for antibody against Helicobacter Pylori, a
bacteria that causes ulcer in the stomach and duodendum, reptic
ulcer or duodenal ulcer. |

Gastrointestinal endoscopy - to use a flexible
fiber optic tube with a light and tiny TV camera at the end (called
endoscope) to detect abnormalities of the esophagus, the wall and
mucous lining of the stomach, small intestine, and large
intestine. |

Liver and pancreas function test |
| 8. |
Tests to find the cause of viral liver infection, such as Hepatitis A and B. |
| 9. |
CT (Computerized Tomogram) - to scan the abdomen
and pelvis to obtain more details in case ultrasound results does
not provide enough information. | |
